Well, June is upon us. Summer is fast approaching. While things have been on hold due to the current situation, we are looking to the near future to restart things. Depending on many factors, we would like to hold a CUTRR event sometime in late August or September. With the coming budget issues all levels of government are going to have, getting the road opened may be a lot more difficult. It doesn’t mean it won’t happen, but only time will tell.
I am hoping to make another inspection run over the road sometime later this month as well. I haven’t seen how the road is doing since the last major storms of the winter season. I suspect that most locations held up fine but there are a few in particular (one near the south end of Reservoir Summit grade) that I will look into in more detail.
Not much else to report so far, though. I am working on updating and adding more information to this site in my spare time. So far, I’ve been working on a few pages that focus on our current projects and goals. Keep watching the site for more updates!
Thank you all for your continued support and interest. We look forward to seeing you out on the road at one of our CUTRR events in the near future!
The road is in good shape for any type of bicycle and is open for such. The road will be fully open to auto traffic, we just don’t know when. “Never” isn’t what is going on. The location of the gates is stated on our Current Conditions page as well.
Being new to this site (thank Jay Leno whose fun car show taught me about the old Ridge Route) is the road in okay shape for a 33 mile bike ride? I know it will never be fully open for auto traffic. And, is there a reference on how to actually find the road gates. In this site the description is vague.
Thank you for letting us know what is going on. Our country seems so crazy these days that it is good to hear about regular down to earth things.
I am working on a project to document the historical monuments that are now too faded to read. I recently found a source of old monument photos, but they are blurry. If anyone else has photos please let me know. And I sent questions to Michael Ballard via the online Contact form.
We would appreciate it. It is also good to hear they have fixed it. Myself and others had reported it to them a while back.
I believe I saved the video from my bike ride through there a couple of weeks ago. Might be able to send for you. There is now a new gate at the North end of the closed portion.
Thank you for the post and thank you for your continued hard work Mike
