We have a few projects currently in the works for the old Ridge Route. All are in varying states of progress. Our priority is, as always, to get the roadway fully opened to the public, to keep it preserved, and maintained. Please use the links below to learn more about each project and how you can help. In 2024, we plan to start holding online monthly (Zoom) meetings regarding these topics, what their current status is, and what needs to be done.
Open The Ridge Route
Getting the road open on a seasonal basis for through travel for tourism.
Status: On hold due to landslides and repairs to make the road safe for regular vehicle travel
CUTRR (Clean Up The Ridge Route) Events
Road work parties organized to remove rocks, clear the drains, and pothole repair.
Status: Events scheduled once a month
Pothole Project
Repairing and filling potholes on the road to help stop further degradation of the roadway surface.
Status: Ready to go for summer, looking for volunteers and donors
Roadway Monuments
Signage along the roadway marking the historic locations.
Status: Pending – donor and work crew!
Signage
Adding signage along the county-maintained section to reduce damage and errant truckers
Status: In need of donor, USFS approval
Forest Byway Designation
Optional designation which may assist in funding roadway improvements
