There was a fire today at the north end of the Ridge Route. It burned along State 138 south of Quail Lake to the Ridge Route. So far, it seems to be contained at around 150 acres and hasn’t affected any historical features along the roadway. State 138 was closed through the area between Gorman Post Road and 170th St West. The Ridge Route is closed from State 138 to at least Pine Canyon Road at this time. Further details will be posted if more develop.

I’d like to see your photos, Joseph.

Re: the Sam Fire message sent me.
I was traveling from Frazier Park West on 138 approaching Quail Lake and saw the beginnings of this fire.
What caught my attention was the thick BLACK SMOKE at the beginning soon followed by grey smoke.
Black smoke is usually associated with oil or oil products like roof shingles or an automobile fire.
Just past the white “mansion” house at Quail Lake is a chained dirt road that lead up to the fire.
I was the 2nd or 3ed person to stop and try calling 911.
I continued on 138 and did not see any fire vehicals until East of the Three Points Community.
I took a couple of images from the chained dirt road entrance up toward the fire. If you send me an email that I can send the photos to I will attempt it.
